Baidu Encyclopedia surpasses 30 million entries and expands academic partnerships
On October 24, 2025, Baidu Encyclopedia announced that its total number of entries has exceeded 30 million. The milestone was revealed during the launch of a special academic edition produced in collaboration with the editorial board of the journal *University Science Popularization* and the Association for Science and Technology of Universities under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The special issue, themed around Baidu's "Star Project," will be distributed to universities nationwide as part of the third edition of *University Science Popularization* magazine for 2025. The Star Project, introduced in December 2024, is a knowledge co-construction initiative aimed at building a credible and comprehensive Chinese-language knowledge system. It leverages Baidu Search's traffic distribution and technical infrastructure to improve access to authoritative information.
As of the announcement, the Star Project has partnered with over 500 institutions and 100,000 experts, contributing more than 1 million professional entries. New partners include Beijing Forestry University, Ningbo University, Chongqing University, Beijing Union University, and the editorial board of *University Science Popularization*.
