Geely obtains L3 autonomous‑driving road‑test license with China's largest coverage area
According to multiple media reports, Geely's Zeekr 9X equipped with the Qianli Haohan H9 autonomous‑driving solution has officially received an L3 road‑test license jointly issued by Hangzhou's Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, Public Security Bureau, and Transportation Bureau. The license covers 9224 square kilometers (3562 sq mi) across Hangzhou, including more than 1500 kilometers (932 miles) of two‑way expressways, making it the largest and longest L3 autonomous‑driving test zone in China.
The system will be fully connected to traffic‑signal data from more than 7000 intersections throughout Hangzhou. This allows the Zeekr 9X to undergo comprehensive, multi‑level, wide‑area scenario verification, helping build the country's largest autonomous‑driving dataset.
The Zeekr 9X Hyper Edition uses the Qianli Haohan H9 assisted‑driving platform and is powered by dual NVIDIA Thor‑U intelligent‑driving chips delivering up to 1400 TOPS of computing performance. The vehicle is equipped with one 520‑line long‑range lidar and four high‑precision solid‑state lidars, enabling full 360‑degree lidar coverage.
Additional sensing hardware includes five 4D millimeter‑wave radars, twelve standard millimeter‑wave radars, twelve cameras, one infrared camera, two wading radars, and six exterior microphones. This sensor suite allows the system to accurately detect the distance, shape, and position of surrounding objects, maintaining stable operation even in poor weather or low‑light conditions.
Geely, founded in 1986 and headquartered in Hangzhou, is one of China's largest privately owned automotive groups. Its portfolio includes Geely Auto, Lynk & Co, Zeekr, Volvo Cars, and a major stake in Mercedes‑Benz Group. The company has invested heavily in intelligent‑driving systems, high‑performance computing platforms, and full‑stack autonomous‑driving R&D, positioning itself as a leading innovator in China's smart‑vehicle industry.
