Wuling unveils rugged new SUV Starlight 560 at ASEAN auto show
On December 11, Wuling Motors officially introduced its first hardcore SUV, the Starlight 560, at the 2025 ASEAN International Auto Show. The vehicle is now available for pre-order and is positioned as a spacious, rugged SUV designed to meet diverse driving needs. It will be offered in three powertrain options: gasoline, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric.
The front of the Starlight 560 features a bold "star-array" grille design with side air intakes that emphasize its muscular stance. The headlights incorporate dual vertical light bars and a central composite lamp, while the overall body lines are sharp and assertive, giving the SUV a commanding road presence.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 186.8 inches (4745 mm) in length, 72.8 inches (1850 mm) in width, and 69.1 inches (1755 mm) in height, with a wheelbase of 110.6 inches (2810 mm). It comes with a five-seat layout, promising generous interior space for both driver and passengers.
Inside, the cabin design closely resembles that of the Starlight 730 model. Key features include a dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, a large floating central touchscreen, and a yacht-style gear selector.
Powertrain options include:
- Plug-in hybrid: A 1.5-liter engine paired with an electric motor, offering an estimated electric-only range of 77.7 miles (125 km) under CLTC conditions.
- Fully electric: A motor delivering up to 134 horsepower (100 kW) with a range of approximately 310.7 miles (500 km) CLTC.
- Gasoline: A 1.5T turbocharged engine producing up to 174 horsepower (130 kW), available with either a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission.
While pricing has not yet been officially announced, Wuling's reputation for affordability suggests the Starlight 560 will be competitively priced compared to similar models. Based on previous releases, estimates suggest a starting price around ¥100,000 (approximately $14,000 USD), though final figures may vary.
