China's Guangzhou-Zhanjiang high-speed rail nears launch after 385 km/h test run
China's new Guangzhou-Zhanjiang high-speed railway is nearing completion after a successful test run reached 385 km/h (239 mph), exceeding its design speed of 350 km/h. The 401-kilometer (249-mile) line connects Guangzhou to Zhanjiang in Guangdong Province, passing through key cities like Foshan, Zhaoqing, and Maoming.The test was part of a phased commissioning process to ensure system reliability and safety. Upcoming evaluations will focus on signaling, communications, and emergency response drills. Once operational, the line will cut travel time between western Guangdong and the Greater Bay Area to just 90 minutes.
The railway is expected to open by the end of 2025, significantly improving regional connectivity and economic integration
