Xiaomi YU7 tops sound insulation tests, beats BMW i7 and Zunjie S800
In the latest sound insulation tests conducted by Chedi, Xiaomi's YU7 SUV achieved the best static noise reduction performance, surpassing luxury competitors like the BMW i7 and Zunjie S800.
The Xiaomi YU7 2025 ultra-long-range four-wheel drive Max version recorded an interior noise level of 56.9 dBA in a 90 dBA powder noise environment. By comparison, both the BMW i7 and Zunjie S800 measured 57.1 dBA. With a price of ¥329,900 (about $46,000), the YU7 delivers quieter performance than models costing nearly three times more-¥1.018 million (about $142,000) for the Zunjie S800 and ¥949,000 (about $132,000) for the BMW i7.
In dynamic driving tests, the YU7 also performed strongly. Front-row noise measured 46.6 dBA, ranking fourth overall. It was only slightly behind the Yangwang U8 (45.7 dBA), BMW i7 (46.2 dBA), and NIO ET9 (46.4 dBA), while outperforming luxury sedans such as the Maybach S-Class.
These results highlight Xiaomi's focus on NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) control. Company founder Lei Jun shared the test outcome, noting that the YU7 has "put a lot of effort into quietness." The SUV demonstrates that advanced sound insulation and driving refinement are achievable at a significantly lower cost than traditional premium brands.
