BYD Dolphin reaches 1 million units, becomes China's top A‑class EVOn December 18, 2025, BYD announced that the 1,000,000th Dolphin electric vehicle officially rolled off the production line. In just three years, the Dolphin has dominated China's A‑class market, consistently ranking as the annual sales champion.

As BYD's first A‑class pure EV, the Dolphin has achieved remarkable milestones. Monthly sales peaked at 36,514 units, and for ten consecutive months, sales exceeded 30,000 units. Industry observers note that the Dolphin has effectively displaced the Honda Fit as the benchmark in this segment.

The Dolphin has also become one of BYD's strongest export models, winning awards in multiple countries and regions. In 2024, it was ranked among the world's top three city cars, further solidifying its global reputation.

Built on BYD's e‑Platform 3.0, the Dolphin features a 2700 mm (≈106 in) wheelbase, offering class‑leading interior space and solving the common pain point of cramped cabins in small cars. It is equipped with BYD's blade battery and integrated eight‑in‑one electric powertrain. Driving range is rated between 401 km and 520 km (≈249-323 miles), meeting daily commuting needs.

In 2025, BYD introduced the Dolphin Smart Drive Edition, which includes the "Eye of God" advanced driver assistance system. The car is fitted with 29 intelligent sensors, supporting highway NOA (Navigation on Autopilot), automated parking assistance, and full life‑cycle OTA upgrades. With a starting price around ¥100,000 (≈$13,800 USD), the Dolphin has become one of the most versatile and affordable options in its class.
