Huawei Pura X2 wide‑fold design leaks: horizontal flipbook‑style folding and larger external screen
A well‑known blogger has revealed new details about Huawei's upcoming Pura X2 wide‑fold smartphone. According to the leak, the external display will move from the front of the first‑generation model to the back panel, and the folding mechanism will shift from a vertical clamshell to a horizontal, flipbook‑style design. The external screen size is also expected to increase.
Compared with the current Pura X, the Pura X2's biggest changes appear to focus on the display configuration. Based on the leaked renders, the device uses a vertically aligned quad‑camera setup on the rear, replacing the previous horizontal triple‑camera layout. The camera module and the external screen are separated and positioned on opposite sides of the back panel.
At this stage, Huawei has not disclosed the exact display specifications. Early estimates suggest the internal screen may grow beyond 7 inches and will likely continue using a 16:10 wide‑fold aspect ratio. The external display is also expected to increase in size.
As the successor to the Pura X, the Pura X2 is expected to feature the Kirin 9030 chipset, the same platform used in the Mate 80 series. The chip adopts a new nine‑core architecture designed to deliver strong performance and smooth system operation.
In terms of imaging, the Pura X2 will likely use Huawei's Red Maple quad‑camera system. This includes a 50‑megapixel main camera, a 40‑megapixel ultra‑wide lens, an 8‑megapixel 3.5x optical telephoto lens, and a Red Maple primary‑color sensor with more than 1.5 million spectral channels.
Regarding launch timing, previous leaks suggest that Huawei will release the wide‑fold model after the flat‑screen Pura 90 series. The Pura X2 is expected to be pushed back to the second quarter of 2026.
