Motorola Edge 70 Ultra appears on Geekbench with 16GB RAM and possible Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip
Motorola may be preparing to launch a higher-end model in its Edge 70 series, as a new device with model number XT2603-1 has surfaced on the Geekbench benchmark platform. The phone, believed to be the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra, scored 2636 points in single-core and 7475 points in multi-core tests, and is equipped with 16GB of RAM.
According to NotebookCheck, the benchmark results place the device's performance slightly above the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 but below the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite Edition. This has led to speculation that the phone may be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. However, the listed base frequency and GPU model (Adreno 829) differ from previously leaked specifications for the Gen 5 chip.
Earlier reports from Chinese tech blogger @数码闲聊站 suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will use TSMC's N3P process and feature the Oryon CPU architecture along with an Adreno 840 GPU. Expected Geekbench 6 scores for that chip are around 3000 for single-core and 10,000 for multi-core.
Given the discrepancy, there are two possibilities: either the leaked Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 specs are inaccurate, or the Edge 70 Ultra is using a new variant of the chip-possibly a derivative like the "Snapdragon 8s Gen 5."
Motorola, originally an American telecommunications company, is now a subsidiary of Lenovo and operates under the Moto brand. It focuses on delivering Android smartphones across various price segments, with the Edge series targeting premium and upper-midrange markets.
