China unveils 5nm mixed reality (MR) chip to rival Vision Pro
On November 27, 2025, GravityXR, a spatial computing startup based in Ningbo, China, unveiled its flagship 5nm mixed reality (MR) chip, the Jizhi G-X100, along with two additional chips and a full-stack spatial computing platform. The G-X100 is China's first full-featured MR chip and is designed to power lightweight, high-performance MR devices.
The G-X100 uses a Chiplet architecture and supports 8K/120Hz ultra-HD MR output, spatial positioning, eye tracking, and gesture recognition. It delivers up to 200 TOPS of spatial computing power and achieves photon-to-photon latency under 10 ms - a world-leading benchmark.
GravityXR showcased an MR headset powered by the G-X100 that weighs less than 100 grams (3.5 oz), compared to Apple's Vision Pro at 600 grams (21 oz). The device also consumes just 3W of power, thanks to targeted rendering based on human visual resolution curves.
The company also introduced the G-VX100, a 12nm ISP chip for AI/AR glasses and wearable devices, and the G-EB100, a 12nm low-power chip for spatial rendering and display. These chips support multi-camera input, fast image capture, and real-time 3D reconstruction.
GravityXR's full-stack platform includes chipsets, algorithms, system software, and reference designs for MR and robotics. The company has raised nearly ¥2 billion (about $280 million USD) across five funding rounds and employs over 200 people.
GravityXR is a Chinese spatial computing company founded in 2021 and headquartered in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. CEO Wang Chaohao is a Stanford graduate and former Apple XR engineer. The Jizhi G-X100 chip measures approximately 20 mm x 20 mm (0.8 x 0.8 inches) and weighs under 10 g (0.35 oz). Pricing is reported in Chinese yuan (CNY) and converted to U.S. dollars (USD); mass production is expected in 2026 with a target of one million units. The MR headset powered by G-X100 is designed in a sunglasses-style split configuration and connects to PCs or smartphones via cable.
