Haier introduces magnetic levitation cooling to tackle data center heat challengesAt the 20th China IDC Industry Annual Ceremony in Beijing, Haier Smart Building unveiled its latest magnetic levitation cooling technology, aiming to solve the growing heat dissipation problems faced by modern data centers.

As artificial intelligence and autonomous driving applications expand, data centers-often described as "super computing power engines"-are under pressure from the massive heat generated by high-speed chip operations. Traditional cooling methods are struggling to keep up, as they must adapt to diverse chip temperature requirements, balance air and liquid cooling, and meet strict energy efficiency standards.

Haier's magnetic levitation refrigeration system, proven in the market for over 20 years, offers a breakthrough. Its core advantages of "oil-free and zero friction" reduce energy consumption during continuous operation and prevent efficiency decay over time. This also lowers long-term maintenance costs.

The technology is compatible with both air and liquid cooling. Air-cooled magnetic levitation systems can discharge high-temperature water at 35°C (95°F) and, when combined with natural cooling and fluorine pump technology, can even achieve waterless cooling-ideal for regions with limited water resources. Water-cooled systems allow rapid deployment and easier maintenance through integrated control.

A practical example is the energy-saving renovation project at Beijing Zhongke Cloud Computing Center. By using two magnetic levitation centrifugal chillers, the center reduced its annual comprehensive PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) to below 1.3, saving up to 54% energy compared with traditional screw units, while ensuring stable operation of 163 cabinets. After connecting to Haier's intelligent control platform, the system further improved efficiency through 24-hour monitoring, automatic alerts, and remote management.

This innovation highlights how cooling technology is becoming a critical enabler of China's computing power industry, shifting from scale expansion to refined, high-quality development.
