Smart Genie 6 unveiled as brand's largest model
Smart has officially revealed the Genie 6 EHD, the biggest vehicle in its history. This new midsize sedan comes equipped with a plug-in hybrid system, signaling the company's move into larger, more versatile cars.
The Genie 6 measures 4906 mm (193.2 inches) in length, 1922 mm (75.6 inches) in width, and 1508 mm (59.4 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2926 mm (115.2 inches). The roof integrates lidar sensors to support advanced driver assistance features. Buyers can choose between 19-inch and 20-inch wheels.
The exterior design features a wide front grille, intake openings on both sides, and a continuous light strip across the front. The rear adopts a full-width taillight design with recessed contours, a sporty dual-tone bumper, and an active rear spoiler. When paired with bright yellow paint, the look is reminiscent of the Xiaomi SU7.
Under the hood, the Genie 6 EHD uses a hybrid system consisting of a 1.5T turbocharged engine, a 3DHT gearbox, and an electric motor. The combined system output reaches 320 kW (429 horsepower). It is powered by a lithium iron phosphate battery, though capacity details have not yet been disclosed.
Performance figures include a pure electric driving range of 285 km (177 miles, CLTC standard), a total range of 1810 km (1125 miles), and fuel consumption as low as 3.9 liters per 100 km (about 60 mpg).
Smart is a brand originally founded as a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Swiss company Swatch in the 1990s. Known for its compact city cars, Smart has traditionally focused on small, urban-friendly vehicles. In recent years, the company has shifted toward electrification and larger models to meet global demand. The Genie 6 represents a significant step in Smart's evolution, combining German engineering with modern hybrid technology to appeal to both Chinese and international markets.
