New generation Xiaomi SU7 arrives as Lei Jun outlines major upgrades and pricing
During a livestream event, Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun announced the new‑generation Xiaomi SU7, marking the model's first major facelift since launch. In just one year and nine months on the market, the original SU7 delivered more than 360,000 units, averaging over 17,000 per month, making it one of China's best‑selling electric sedans above RMB 200,000 (about USD 28,000). Lei Jun thanked owners for their support and emphasized that the new model continues Xiaomi's focus on design, driving feel, technology, ecosystem integration, and safety.
Lei Jun said the facelift was shaped heavily by owner feedback, with Xiaomi refining numerous details across safety, assisted driving, chassis tuning, range, and interior comfort. He stressed that the new SU7 remains a driver‑focused car that preserves the "unity of man and machine" feel that defined the first generation.
The new SU7 introduces several major upgrades. Safety is improved with a 2200 MPa Xiaomi Super Steel embedded roll cage, nine standard airbags, two new rear‑side airbags, and a reinforced 1500 MPa scratch‑resistant beam plus a protective coating under the battery pack. Assisted driving is now standard across the lineup, including lidar, 4D millimeter‑wave radar, 700 TOPS computing power, and Xiaomi's end‑to‑end HAD system.
Driving dynamics also receive a boost. All versions now use the upgraded Xiaomi Super Motor V6s Plus, with front four‑piston calipers and wider rear tires. The Pro and Max models add dual‑chamber air suspension and CDC adaptive dampers for improved ride quality. Range has been significantly extended: the SU7 Pro reaches up to 902 km (560 miles) CLTC, while the Max can add 670 km (416 miles) in just 15 minutes when using Xiaomi's proprietary fast‑charging piles.
The facelift also brings new styling options, including a Capri Blue exterior color and new 20‑inch blade wheels. The interior receives a redesigned layout with a Dark Night theme, upgraded steering wheel, improved center console, enhanced seat comfort, and refined ambient lighting.
Pre‑sale pricing for the new SU7 starts at RMB 229,900 (about USD 32,000), which is more than RMB 10,000 (about USD 1,400) higher than the previous generation. Buyers can reserve with a RMB 1,000 (USD 140) deposit through the Xiaomi Auto app, refundable after launch. Existing SU7 customers who have locked orders but have not yet taken delivery may switch to the facelift while keeping their original purchase‑tax benefits, receive priority scheduling, and get a complimentary RMB 699 (USD 98) smart dual‑dial accessory. Deliveries are expected to begin in April 2026.
